How Does a Mouthguard Work?

During your child’s appointment, we take measurements of your child’s mouth. The mouthguard is custom-designed to fit your child’s mouth comfortably. When your child goes to sleep at night, the mouthguard is worn to provide a barrier between your child’s upper and lower teeth.

The mouthguard is made of pliable material that forms around your child’s teeth, preventing wear and tear along with headaches and jaw pain. Using a mouthguard can also prevent more serious problems like TMD, or temporomandibular disorder, that affects the joints in your child’s jaw.
